John Buckley brought out his V-2, which took 3rd place at NARAM 35. He modeled it after the 1st flight of the V2 in October 1942. By the way, it had a good flight on a B4. Alex Heppermann racked up his creatively named "Orange Rocket" and had a successful flight on a D12 motor. Candice Turner snapped off some pictures with an Astrocam. When are we going to see those? Yours truly flew my trusty Estes Jayhawk on a D12 for more damage. I wonder if its getting to be time to retire it.
Eric Pitts flew his Spitfire the "Green Fire" for at least a couple of good flights. Andre Ahrens loaded up a Phantom 4000 on an Aerotech F40. It looks like it hung on the rod a bit, since it didn't acheive much altitude. We had a heart stopping moment when it nosed over and headed for the ground. Fortunately, the chute opened just in time to slow it down a bit before impact.
We saw some Estes Long Shots as well. Larry Mills and Dan Howard had back to back flights, both on D12s staging to C6s. Andre Ahrens was back with many good flights on his Estes Broadsword. Steve Cox flew his Pyramid on a C6 while Steve Mizerany had another good flight with his Changeling, this was version 3B. it was a 2 D motor cluster with good results.
Andy Oldroyd had many flights with his R2-D2 throughtout the day. Steve Mizerany exercised his fleet with many good flights. Ken ludwig also had a good flight with his Estes Magnum on a D12 staging to a C6. We had many Estes Fat Boy flights, and a couple od drag races. We finished up the day with a four way drag race of Fat Boys. John Buckley, Mike Sears, Tim Sears, and Mike Walsh all rounded out the day.
