April 19, 1997 Launch Report

Mark Henriksen

The St. Louis Rocketry Association held a rocket launch at its Elsberry, Missouri launch site on April 19. Several fliers were in attendance to witness many memorable flights.

Bill Hrach flew his scratch built rockets, Rockwell and BOCTOK. Rob Chapie was seen with his crew prepping his Rocket R&D Jayhawk for a nice filght on an H73. Jack Hollister was around to fly rockets and lend a helping hand. Fred Gruiz accepted the assistance with his 2-stage Black Brandt. This rocket was seen taking to the skies on a K550 which later staged to an I135 for a beautiful flight. Mike Heppermann, not wanting to be outdone, loaded up his 3-stage Black Brandt X. It lifted off majestically on a J350 which staged to an H123 and again to a G80 for a spectacular flight. This rocket would make another apperance at the NSL launch in 1998. Mark Henriksen came out with his scratch built Shadowfire which launched on an H242 for a fast flight.

There were many others as well to round out the day. Our next launch is on May 17 at the Creve Coeur site.
