January 18, 1997 Launch Report
Contributed by Tom McAtee
The St. Louis Rocketry Association held a launch on January 18 at the
Creve Coeur Park Polo Field. This was one for the diehards, with a temperature
Of about 16 degrees and plenty of snow and ice on the field. At least the
Wind was light, so most recoveries were close to the pad. Fliers included Jeff
Brundt, John Buckley, Rob Chapie, James Hollister, and Tom McAtee.
The inclement weather, along with uncooperative igniters, limited us to 12
flights. Jeff Brundt put up good D-powered flights of his V-2, Honest John,
and Titan IIIE, and Rob Chapie also flew a D in his Sandhawk. Tom McAtee, on
the other hand, had a spectacular D12 CATO in his V-3. John Buckley wrapped
things up with a great flight of his F-16 plastic model conversion on C5-3 power.
