Don Hanson's Crayon Rocket Project

It was a dark and stormy night......whoops, wrong story. Let's start over. It was a cold and snowy launch at Elsberry on December 13th, 2003. The temperature was in the high twenties and from the launch site the snow flurries had obscured the town of Elsberry about half of the time. The launch was shut down early because of the weather and flyer inactivity. We had flown everything that was going to fly that day.
Don Hanson and I (Bruce Weidner) had just finished eating at Sadie's after the launch that day. Don suggested that we go check out the Dollar General store next to Sadie's. I had been in the store the previous month and knew what would happen next. I found one of the giant Crayon
coin banks for sale on the store shelves and waved it in Don's face. A new rocket project?! During the babble that
followed you could see the wheels turning. He had taken the bait and was hooked. You can follow Don's step by step narrative and progress below.
